Frederick served as a Staff Sergeant & Ball Turret Gunner on B-17F "Thoroughbred" #42-3337, 548th Bomber Squadron, 385th Bomber Group, Medium, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

He resided in Erie County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on November 25, 1942 in Buffalo, New York. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in a Machine shop and also as Single, without dependents.

Frederick was declared "Missing In Action" when his B-17 was attacked by enemy aircraft, severely damaged, and crashed into Baltic Sea during the war.

He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.

Service # 12209075

Looking at his listing on the wall to the right it would appear that someone cut the numbers wrong. The wall shows him in the 584th Bomber Squadron however he was in the 548th.
