Rolland served as a Staff Sergeant in the 333rd Bomber Squadron, 94th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Essex County, New York prior to the war. He enlisted in the Army on October 20, 1942 in Albany, New York. He was noted as being employed as a Power station operator and also as being Single, without dependents.

He was killed in the "Line Of Duty" in a non-battle related airplane accident in England during the war.
