Vincent served as a Machinist's Mate, Third Class, U.S.S. Leopold, (DE-319), U.S. Coast Guard during World War II.

He resided in Buffalo, Erie County, New York prior to the war.

The Leopold, while on a convoy mission from New York City to England, was hit by a torpedo from German submarine U-255 and sank south of Iceland in the North Atlantic during the war.

Vincent was declared "Missing In Action" in this sinking.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.
