Sergeant Robert E. Adams served as a Bombardier/Nose Gunner (B-24) in the 846th Bomber Squadron, 489th Bomber Group (Heavy). Robert E. Adams was killed in action when the plane was hit by flak and crashed in the sea, on July, 1944, and he is honored with the Purple Heart.

Killed in Action (KIA) Shot down by flak and crashed into North Sea in B-24 Liberator (aircraft serial) #41-29533 "Little Iodine".
