William, who resided in Milford, Delaware, served as a Private First Class with the Infantry, U.S. Army during World War II.

He enlisted in the Army March 1943. He attended training at Fort Eustis, Virginia. Prior to enlisting he had been employed at the Milford Ordinance Plant, Milford, Delaware which was destroyed in an explosion. He attended Milford High School and was an usher at the Plaza Theatre during evenings.

He was "Killed In Action" in the Saar Basin, Germany during the war.

He had served in the Army for one year and eight months at the time of his death and was decorated with a Purple Heart.

He also has a Cenotaph in the Odd Fellow's Cemetery, Milford, Delaware.
