He resided in Dansville, Livingston County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on February 17, 1943 in Rochester, New York. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in the fabrication of metal products and also as Single, with dependents.

Clifford was "Killed In Action" in Germany during the war.

He was awarded a Purple Heart.
