George served as a Staff Sergeant, 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in Worcester County, Massachusetts prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on December 12, 1942 at Fort Devens, Massachusetts. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in warehousing and also as Married.

George was "Killed In Action" in the Battle Of The Bulge, Belgium during the war.

He was awarded the "Silver Star", Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.

His brother, Pvt Adelard Joyal, was also Killed during the war and they are interred next to each other.
