Melvin, who resided in Harrington, Delaware, served as a Private, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II.

He was "Killed In Action" in Germany. He had served in the Army for eight months at the time of his death and was decorated with a Purple Heart.

Son of George Arthur Geiger and Minnie M. Homan Geiger.
