A memorial service will be held for T-5 Irvin W. Gates at the First Presbyterian church Sunday at the regular morning worship hour, 11 a.m. the Rev. Gideon L. Krein pastor, announced Saturday.
T-5 Gates was killed in action in Germany, November 15. H was serving in the communications section of the First army in the Luxembourg sector south of Aachen, Germany.
Surviving are his wife, the former Mary Girzi and two year old son, Irvin W. Jr., 2005 Lamborn avenue; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joel S. Gates, 602 East Eighth street; two brothers, Lt. Joel S. Gates, jr., and Wilder Gates; and a sister Caroline.
T-5 Gates was awarded the bronze star and the combat infantryman's badge.
