William served as a Civilian and Bulldozer Operator with Johnson, Drake, & Piper Inc. in Northern Africa during World War II.

He resided in the Patterson, New Jersey prior to the war.

He was found outside of the J.D.P., Inc. barracks and had been assaulted. He died of multiple injuries at the age of 34 in Massawa, Eritrea during the war.

Husband of Hazel M. Smith who resided in Patterson, New Jersey.
