Joined the Army Air Corps 29 Dec 1942 from Bartlesville, OK and assgned to the 853rd Aviaiton Engineers. His unit was sent to Oran, North Africa then boarded the British ship HMT Rhona. PFC Sharp was one of 1015 American servicemen lost when the transport ship HMT Rohna was sunk by a German guided missile on the evening of 26 November 1943 off the coast of Algeria. The sinking was done by a Heinkel 177 bomber piloted by Hans Dochtermann. His name is inscribed in the Tablets of the Missing in the North Africa American Cemetery, Tunis.
