Ralph served as a Signalman Third Class, U.S.S. LCT 28, U.S. Navy during World War II.

He resided in Belknap County, New Hampshire prior to the war.

LCT 28 struck a mine in the Mediterranean and sank during the war.

Ralph was declared "Missing In Action" in this sinking during the war.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.
