On 13 April 1943, over Trapani, Sicily, a B-17F was seen losing altitude. The ship was last seen immediately off the target in the sea. Six to seven members of crew were seen in dinghy or swimming towards it. Air-Sea Rescue was notified but no personnel were picked up.
MACRS Report #16526 has Danish as Pilot, but a newspaper article from Coshocton Tribune - Aug 20, 1943, quoted a letter written by Mrs. SB Teague of Weatherford, TX, and states her son was the pilot. Additionally, 97th History Book VENIT HORA-THE HOUR HAS COME lists Teague as Pilot and Danish as Navigator.
