William, who resided at 38 North Bradford Street, Dover, Delaware, served as a 2nd Lieutenant with the 10th Troop Carrier Squadron, 60th Transport Group, U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

He enlisted in the Army on September 29, 1941, prior to the war, in Wilmington, Delaware. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as an Actor and also as Single, without dependents.

He was married sometime after his enlistment.

He was killed in a plane crash near Oran, Africa while serving as a co-pilot. It is believe that only three members of the crew perished in this crash as listed below.

William had served in the Air Corps for one year and six months at the time of his death and was decorated with an Air Medal.
