David was serving in the US Army Air Forces during World War Two. He was among US Troops being transported on the HMT Rohna. The ship was attacked and sunk by a German glider bomb, the ship sank in the Mediterranean Sea north of Algeria. PVT David Hutton was among over 1000 US Troops lost at sea in the sinking of the Rohna. His remains were not recovered.
