Arthur served as a Civilian Ambulance Driver, American Field Services, U.S. Armed Forces in Northern Africa during World War II.

He resided in Minnesota prior to the war.

While serving with the British 8th Army he was first reported "Missing". Later his remains were discovered near Cyrenaica, Egypt. Cause of death not stated.

Arthur was married however his wife's first name is currently unknown. She resided in Warroad, Minnesota. He also had a son named James and a daughter named Alise.
