Son of Sam Autovino who resided in Henrietta, New York.

Mathew served as a Corporal in the 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in Monroe County, New York prior to the war. He enlisted in the Army on November 19, 1940, prior to the war, in Rochester, New York. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Farm Hand and also as Single, without dependents.

Mathew was "Killed In Action" in the Battle of Tunisia during the war.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.
