Casualty of WWII,Leonard was a Sergeant (Nav./Bomber)with 199 Sqdn. Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve.Service No: 1381736.He was killed while on a test/training flight over England, near Ely,leaving a wife, Eleanor and 5 year old son, Alan Leonard Vaughan.He was 29 and the son of Josiah Vaughan and Clara Vaughan (nee Bennett); husband of Eleanor Mabel Vaughan (nee Monteath).His parents also rest in this cemetery.

Sergeant Vaughan was one of five airmen killed in the crash of their Wellington (#BK158) aircraft when the aircraft suffered structural failure. It had taken off from RAF Ingham in Lincolnshire and crashed at Skellingthorpe, 2 miles from Lincoln.
The five casualties of this accident were:-
RAFVR Sergeant Archibald McKay CORMACK,
RAFVR Flight Sergeant Terence Federick HOCKLEY,
RAF Sergeant Leslie JOICE,
RCAF Warrant Officer Class II Albert George SHORTEN and
Sergeant Leonard George VAUGHAN.
