Excerpt from The Macon Telegraph and News, Sunday, August 6, 1944: Lt. Maddux was reported to have been missing in action over France July 24. He was a navigator on a B-24 Liberator bomber. Lt. Maddux is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Julian R. Maddux of Stanislaw Circle. His wife is the former Miss Mary Shaw Sigman and they have one son, Robert D. Maddux, Jr.
Educated at Lanier High School for Boys, Georgia Tech and Eastman Business College , Lt. Maddux joined the Army in October, 1942. He received his training at Selma Field, Ala and Blythe Field, Calif. He had been overseas since April of this year.
This gravestone is a cenotaph as his actual remains are in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia, USA. ~ Actual burial here.
