He resided in Wilmington, Delaware prior to the war. He enlisted in the Army on March 31, 1941, prior to the war, in Trenton, New Jersey. He was noted as being employed as a Laboratory technician and also as being Single, without dependents.

B-25J #43-36153 took off, with a crew of 6 during snowy weather, from Attu on a combat photo mission near Attu. They were last seen in formation 45 miles southwest of Cape Wrangell. They were not seen again and are believed to have crashed into the sea.

Charles was "Killed In Action" in this crash during the war.

He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
