Robert Wilson Fulton was born in Hale County in west-central Alabama, in 1915 or 1916. His mother, Margaret Seale Fulton, was a homemaker and his father, Edgar Fulton, a farmer.
The father died in 1935 at age 59 after being in poor health for several years.
Robert enlisted in the Navy on July 14, 1936. He was an aviation machinist and petty officer on the U.S.S. Arizona when he was killed in the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Dec. 7, 1941.
His only sibling, a younger brother, William Francis Fulton, served in the Army 20th bomb squadron, 2nd bomb command from 1938-1943.
