Marvin served as a Corporal & Right Gunner on B-29 #44-69895, 61st Bomber Squadron, 39th Bomber Group, Very Heavy, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

He resided in Blount County, Tennessee prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on August 7, 1943 at Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Laboratory technician and/or assistant and also as Married.

In the photo to the right Marvin is standing second from the left.

B-29 #44-69895 took off from Tinian on a bombing mission. They were rammed by a Japanese kamikaze and crashed at sea during the war.

Some members of this crew were sighted for 2 days in rafts but weather prevented rescue ships from picking them up. The third day, they were not found.

Marvin was declared "Missing In Action" in this attack.

He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.

Marvin also has a "Cenotaph" in the Mount Lebanon Cemetery, Maryville, Tennessee with his parents.
