He was born in Wetumka, Okla. He was Killed in Action on the invasion of Tarawa as a Marine. I believe he was in the 2nd Marine division. He received the Purple Heart in death. He was killed by machine gun fire. His life long boyhood friend was with him and saw his remains inturned on the island however, my research says he was later moved to Punch Bowl.
