Anthony served as a Staff Sergeant & Radio Operator on B-24D "Mammy Yokum" (#42-40221), 424th Bomber Squadron, 307th Bomber Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Providence County, Rhode Island prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on August 21, 1942 in Providence, Rhode Island. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Bookkeeper and/or cashier and also as Single, without dependents.

B-24D "Mammy Yokum" (#42-40221) was on a ferrying trip from Bomber 2 Airfield to Guadalcanal with a crew of 5 and 10 passengers.

Anthony was declared "Missing In Action" in the "Line Of Duty" when the B-24 he was on, after taking off from Bomber 2 Airfield, New Hebrides, developed engine trouble and had to ditch in the bay close to the Airfield during the war.

A total of 6 perished during this flight and 9 survived.
