Elmer Howard Russell, Seaman, second class, United States Navy.

S2 Russell was one of seventy-four sailors killed aboard submarine USS Pickerel (SS-177). The Pickerel was lost with all hands, probably on 3 April 1943 off of Honshu, Japan as a result of depth charge attack. He has been awarded the Purple Heart medal.
