Having actually gone "Missing" on the above date, he was not officially declared by the military as being dead until January 17, 1946.

Son of Mrs. Margaret E. Phillipe who resided in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

Peter served as a Staff Sergeant & Gunner on B-25 #42-64911, 48th Bomber Squadron, 41st Bomber Group, Medium, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

He resided in Rockingham County, New Hampshire prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on September 9, 1942 in Manchester, New Hampshire. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Messenger and also as Single, without dependents.

B-25 #42-64911 took off from O'Hare Field, Apamama Island on a bombing mission. They were hit by ground anti-aircraft fire which damaged their right engine causing them to crash at sea during the war.

Peter was declared "Missing In Action" during the war.

He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
