Son of Hattie B. Cloues.

Edward served as a Ensign, U.S.S. Arizona (BB-39), U.S. Navy during World War II.

He resided in Warner, Merrimack County, New Hampshire prior to the war. He was a graduate of the USNA, Class of 1940.

Edward was declared "Missing In Action" when the Arizona, which was moored at quays along Ford Island, was attacked and sunk by Japanese aircraft during the war. He was awarded the Purple Heart.

Warner -- Ensign Edward B. Cloues, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Cloues of this town, was killed in action at Pearl Harbor Sunday, the parents were today informed by the Navy department.

Mr. Cloues, father of the Ensign, is treasurer of Merrimack county.

Ensign Cloues, commissioned in June 1940 after graduating from Annapolis, would have been 21 years old on Christmas Day.
