Jack served as a Sergeant & Gunner on B-29 #42-24748, 875th Bomber Squadron, 498th Bomber Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Stark County, Ohio prior to the war.

B-29 #42-24748, along with 56 other B-29's, took off from Saipan airfield on a bombing mission to bomb port facilities and urban areas in the Nagoya, Japan region and some other alternate targets.

Jack was declared "Missing In Action" when his B-29, returning from a bombing mission against the port facilities and urban areas of Nagoya, crashed for unknown reasons on Anatahan Island during the war.

This B-29 was on it's first mission.

He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.

Jack's remains were the only ones not recovered from this flight. He also has a "Cenotaph" in the Sunset Hills Burial Park, Canton, Ohio.
