Son of Stephen Bosco who resided in New Britain, Connecticut.

Joseph served as a Ship's Serviceman Barber Third Class, U.S.S. Hancock (CV-19), U.S. Navy during World War II.

He resided in Hartford County, Connecticut prior to the war.

The Hancock, while off Okinawa, had a Japanese kamikaze that cartwheeled across her flight deck and crashed into a group of planes while its bomb hit the port catapult to cause a tremendous explosion on April 7th. 62 men were killed and 71 wounded.

Joseph was "Killed In Action" in this explosion during the war.

He was awarded the Purple Heart and was buried at sea.
