Son of Henry & Marie Blitz. Identical twin brother of Rudolph Blitz. Both were crew members of the USS Oklahoma and both killed in action December 7th, 1941.

The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency announced U.S. Navy Machinist's Mate 2nd Class Leo Blitz, and U.S. Navy Fireman 1st Class Rudolph Blitz, twins killed during World War II, were accounted for May 21, 2019.

On Dec. 7, 1941, the Blitz’s were assigned to the battleship USS Oklahoma (BB-37), which was moored at Ford Island, Pearl Harbor, when the ship was attacked by Japanese aircraft. The USS Oklahoma sustained multiple torpedo hits, which caused it to quickly capsize. The attack on the ship resulted in the deaths of 429 crewmen, including the Blitz twins.
