Robert served as a Master Sergeant, Headquarters Company, 24th Corps, with the U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in Monroe County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on January 15, 1943 in Rochester, New York. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being born in Persia and as being Single, without dependents.

He was first declared "Missing In Action" in Okinawa, Japan and later as "Killed In Action" after his remains were recovered.

He was awarded a Purple Heart.
