Son of Mr. & Mrs. Oscar La Plante.

Wilfred served as a Seaman First Class, U.S.S. Wasp (CV-18), U.S. Navy during World War II.

He resided in Claremont, Sullivan County, New Hampshire prior to the war.

Wilfred was "Killed In Action" when the Wasp was attacked while supporting the Iwo Jima landings during the war.

He was awarded the Purple Heart and was buried at sea.

He also has a "Cenotaph" at the Saint Mary Cemetery, Claremont, New Hampshire.
