He was the son of Zachariah Taylor Kennamer and Nancy Adeline (Jordan) Kennamer.

Kennamer was a pilot with the 13th Air Force, 347th Fighter Group, 70th Fighter Squadron. He was flying P-39D #41-7043 from Nandi airfield in Fiji on a local altitude training flight. He had a mid-air collision with B-26B #41-17590 south of Itai Island. Both planes plummeted into the sea and all men aboard were killed. None of their bodies were recovered.
