Mrs. Gladys Morris Nursed Children Through "Flu" Dies of Same Disease Thursday Moring.

The body of Gladys Morris was taken Friday to the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Claude B. Carpenter on Fifth Avenue to remain until Saturday when the burial service took place., with most of the large family in attendance, and many sympathizing friends.

Gladys was born April 7, 1890, in Town 937, Perkins County, Nebraska. When three weeks old she came with her parents and two older sisters, Gertrude and Gaylia, to Woodland where the family lived until they moved to Lake Odessa in the spring of 1897, when Gladys was seven years old.

Gladys lived most of her life in Lake Odessa, where she was a popular girl especially in her high school work. She grew to womanhood attending school and graduating with the class of 1909. She later attended the Ferris Institute in Big Rapids and taught school for several years.

She was united in marriage with Parker Morris of Orleans in 1913. Since her marriage her life has been spent mostly in Lake Odessa, except for a number of years in Orleans, Hastings and Clawson. She was the devoted mother of six children; Edward, Robert, Marian, Junior, Jeane, and Wayne. Her life was the usual life of a busy, loving wife and mother. Her last days were given to the loving care of her sick children.

Mrs. Morris was preceded in death by two sisters, Gertrude and Mrs. Lottie Batdroff.

She leaves besides her husband and six children, five sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Gaylia Bradley, Ypsilanti; Mrs. Maxine VanHouten, Lansing; Mrs. Frances Hoyland, Newark, N.J.; Miss Dorothy, Richland, and Miss Mary of Ann Arbor; Henry, Detroit, and Hobart of Lake Odessa, these, with other relatives and friends, regret loss to this family of Children.

The funeral service was held in Lake Odessa at the home of her parents Mr. and Mrs. Carpenter, Saturday afternoon, Rev. A.T. Cartland officiating. Appropriate musical numbers were sung by L.T. Gilson and Mrs. W.C. McCartney accompanied by Mrs. L.T. Gilson. Burial was in Lakeside Cemetery.
