AGNES V. (LIECHTY) REINHARD, 95, of Berne, died Sunday, April 22, 2007, 9:25 p.m., at Swiss Village. Born Nov. 27, 1911, in Monroe, she was the daughter of Jeptha "Jeff" Liechty and Sarah Gilliom Liechty. She was a longtime resident of Berne. The family moved to Berne where her father became a well-known auctioneer and realtor. A graduate of Berne High School, She married Herman Reinhard on Oct. 2, 1933; he died in March of 1939. She was employed by Gifford's IGA and later, for many years, as the office manager of the Adams Country Farm Bureau Co-op, Berne. It was through her office at this grain elevator that she became widely known for her friendly and efficient service to farmers and their families throughout the area. In 1985, she was married to Carl Reinhard of LaPorte. The couple lived in that city for seven years before moving to Swiss Village, in 1995. Carl Reinhard died in March of 2003. She had a lifelong interest in music, once performing the lead role of Josephine in a civic production of Gilbert & Sullivan's "H.M.S. Pinafore." She was a member of First Mennonite Church of Berne and was active in the church's music program as a member of the Chancel Choir and The Mennonite Choral Society. She also served the church as a popular children's Sunday School teacher for many years. She is survived by two sons, Keith of New York City, Kenneth of Stevensville, Md.; one sister, Berniece of Berne; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four stepdaughters; seven step grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Liechty; and four sisters, Esther (Orlo) McCoy, Florence (Howard) Lehman, Edith (John) Gottschalk, and Helene (who died as an infant). Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel at First Mennonite Church, with visitation one hour prior. The Rev. Craig Maven and the Rev. Anita Rediger officiating. Visitation also from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Swiss Village. Burial in M.R.E. Cemetery, Berne. Memorials to Swiss Village or First Mennonite Church of Berne.
