Robert enlisted in the Army at Fort Devens, Massachusetts on April 27, 1944, and trained at Camp Wheeler, Georgia, and Camp McCoy, Wisconsin. In November, 1944 he was sent overseas and served with the 385th Infantry Regiment, 76th Infantry Division. On February 14, 1945 was killed in Luxembourg.
Pvt. Hill was survived by his parents, his wife, a nine months old daughter, Roberta Juliette whom he had never seen, and three brothers, Cpl. Earle Hill, and George and James Hill, both veterans of WWII.
