Roland served as a Private First Class, 774th Tank Destroyer Battalion, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in Hillsborough County, New Hampshire & was a member of the New Hampshire National Guard prior to the war.

His National Guard unit was called into full time active Army service on February 24, 1941, prior to the war, from Manchester, New Hampshire. He was noted, at that time, as being employed as a Architect and also as Single, without dependents.

He was married after his enlistment.

Roland "Died Of Injuries" received in action during the war.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.
