Son of Horace and Jessie Edith Rawson Armsby. He never married. Died aged 19 years.

Sherman served as a First Lieutenant, 375th Fighter Squadron, 361st Fighter Group, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II. He was piloting a P-51 Mustang named "Jacqueline" when he met his fate. Since he was "Killed In Action" during the war was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross (2nd highest medal awarded to a Soldier), Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Purple Heart.
