On arriving in France he was transferred from the Canadian General List to the Royal Flying Corps to first serve with 12 RFC Squadron and then with 59 RFC Squadron.
Son of James E. and Mary E. Souter of Hamilton.
Lieutenant James Mitchell Souter is commemorated on Page 330 of Canada's First World War Book of Remembrance.
He is also remembered with love and honour on a family grave monument in the
Hamilton Cemetery in Hamilton, Ontario.
