With six other aircraft Lieutenant Morris took off, flying out in the direction of Douai. None of them returned. After the Germans retired from this front his remains were recovered, along with those of his Observer/Gunner, RFC Lieutenant James Mitchell SOUTER, beside their downed Royal Aircraft Factory R.E.8 (#A4190) aircraft. The two airmen were laid to rest where they had fallen.
