Son of George Allan of Stellarton.
Private Edward Allan is commemorated on Page 358 of Canada's First World War Book of Remembrance.March 19, 1916, enlisted with the 193rd (Nova Scotia Highlanders) Battalion at Stellarton, Nova Scotia. Served with the 185th Battalion, 5th Canadian Division in England from December 29, 1916 to February 12, 1918. He was then posted to France with the 85th (Nova Scotia Highlanders) the following day. He was killed in action near Oppy on March 30, 1918. One of those killed beside him that morning was Private SOG Helgason, regimental number 700164, (also buried at Orchard Dump Cemetery).
