He originally joined the Air Force in June of 1937 and served till September of 1939 when his father died. He was discharged then to help the family and run the family store. He enlisted again in March of 1942 at Moncton, NB and went overseas in June of 1943.
He was the son of Chester Allison and Maud Amy (nee Buck) Maxwell of Sackville, New Brunswick. Brother of Norman, Helen, and Margaret. Husband of Annie Agnus Maxwell; and the father of Jacquelyn Elaine and Sharon Annie Maxwell of Sackville.
He died when Handley Page Halifax B.Mk. III, MZ 652 / DY-Z was on a mission to bomb the Sterkrade synthetic oil plant. The plain was shot by the enemy causing it to crash in flames killing all aboard. They were buried in a mass grave.
