Anna Antrobus was the daughter of Gibbs Crawfurd. She was born at her father's house Saint Hill, near East Grinstead, Sussex, in 1769. She died in 1793 in London on giving birth to her second son Gibbs Crawfurd Antrobus. She was buried in the Crawfurd vault under the chancel of St. Swithun's parish church, East Grinstead. Her husband John Antrobus was born in 1762 at Congleton, Cheshire, and died in 1794 when he fell off his horse at the toll-gate at East Grinstead on a visit to his-in-laws the Crawfurd family residing at Saint Hill.
