For Wendy
Yesterday, I thought I saw you.
Older like us all,
In excitement, my lips parted,
Your name I was to call.
Where did life take you?
I was eager to know.
Suddenly my breath caught,
My pace began to slow.
Nothing but illusion, a cruel reminding dream,
For it was then that I recalled, dear friend, you never made it past 16.

~Remembering Wendy~
Once upon a time, there was a girl with golden blonde hair and a captivating smile. Whenever she would laugh, any around her would find themselves joining in, if not to only laugh at her joy. And oh, the joy this young girl had. A genuine happiness that she spread around to anyone forunate enough to be in her presence. The people all loved her, for it was impossible not to.
She made beautiful music in the marching band with her peers and listened closely at church when being taught about God and His love. How hard, the girl tried to be an example of those teachings. It was a task, that she succeeded in by far. Offering her friendship to any and displaying a loyalty that was mostly unheard of in her age bracket.
It was on a stormy November day, when the fairy tale ended in such an undeserved fashion. Wendy had a busy day that day. School, a visit to her grandparents, and a church revival that night. It was returning from her grandparents that her car hydroplaned and sent the little car smashing into another passing vehicle. Wendy lost her life instantly. It was a short life of merely 16 years, but it was a life that touched many. Leaving behind a memory that makes those who knew her, smile warmly on the coldest of days.
