Bernice Ameling, 93, of Waucoma, died Thursday, July 29, at Mercy medical Center in New Hampton of natural causes.

She was born July 21, 1918 on a farm near Sumner, daughter of William and Emma Popenhagen Ehlert. She married Joe Ameling on April 17, 1940. he died in 1991.

The couple milked cows, raised crops, chickens, and pigs for more than 40 years on their farm near Waucoma. She taught Sunday School and was a 4-H leader.

Survived by two sons, Bill (Carol) Ameling of Fredericksburg, and Kauren (Mary Kay) Ameling of Waucoma; one daughter, Jolene (Dave) Ott of Cedar Rapids; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by one sister.

Services 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Waucoma, with burial in St, Mary's Cemetery. Public visitation from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at Waucoma Funeral Chapel, with a 4:00 p.m. rosary, and a 6:30 p.m. Scripture service.
