3rd of 9 children of John & Mary {Palmer} Williams; Thomas enlisted in the U S Army, 167th Infantry Regiment, 42nd “Rainbow” Division, Company G, in September 1917; After extensive training in the New Jersey area, the division shipped out to France in early 1918. The division was in a now famous battle beginning about October 15th and a few days later, Thomas was killed in action. As a member of the famous "Rainbow" division, Thomas was part of a unit that had a decisive role in ending World War 1. His mother Mary traveled to France in Sept 1930 to visit his gravesite.
