Mrs. Samuel Crayne has received a message from the War Department stating that her son, Thomas Ewing Crayne, had been killed in action in France, but did not give the date.
Thomas E. Crayne was born in Morgan township, Aug. 25, 1893, where he resided until four years ago he went to Akron, Ohio, where he was employed in the Goodyear Rubber factory. On May 25, 1918, he was sent to Camp Gordon, Ga., and five weeks later was sent overseas.
Besides his mother he is survived by four brothers and one sister, Frank B. Crayne, of Millsboro; Leslie, who is in the U. S. service in Italy; Albert, who is in the U.S. service in France, and Mrs. Brantly Lippencott of Franklin township.
