Robert "Rob" Scherzinger's parent unit was Royal Artillery. Later he applied and was selected for service with the 1SAS Regiment. In 1943 Robert became a member of the Special Raiding Squadron unit under the command of the legendary Major Robert Blair Mayne, "Paddy" to his soldiers.
At the time when he was killed in action at Termoli, Rob Scherzinger was the last remaining member of Acting Captain Sandy Wilson's unit. Both men continued to fight to the last with utmost courage.
