Promoted Corporal, he was later killed in the Battle of El Alamein on 31 October 1942. The battalion lost 199 officers and men killed or wounded of the 292 engaged in the night attack.
He is commemorated on the Roll of Honour in Wirrulla SA, also his name is located at panel 63 in the Commemorative Area at the Australian War Memorial.
