Posting on Death: HQ 26 Australian Infantry Brigade, he was killed in action in Egypt.
The defenders of Tobruk did not surrender, they did not retreat. Their determination, bravery, and humour, combined with the aggressive tactics of their commanders, became a source of inspiration during some of the war's darkest days. In so doing, they achieved lasting fame as the "Rats of Tobruk". Pte Lyndsay Graetz was one of those men. (courtesy AWM)
He is commemorated on the Roll of Honour in his hometown of Murray Bridge SA, also his name is located at panel 12 in the Commemorative Area at the Australian War Memorial.
Son of August Edmund and Edith Lucy Graetz, of Murray Bridge, South Australia; husband of Dorothy Jean Graetz, of Murray Bridge.
